US Neocons continue to drive US-No. Korea negotiations, as it now appears discussions with that country are essentially ‘dead in the water’. Listen to my interview with Critical Hour radio on how Trump and the US negotiates with adversaries: first by imposing sanctions, followed by threats that opponents must concede to US demands, and only thereafter will the US will consider possibly withdrawing some sanctions. How this approach to foreign policy in general is reflected in US-China trade negotiations, where the US has imposed tariffs, then demands China capitulate on the technology issue, and then says only then the US may reduce tariffs…maybe. The US pattern of demanding capitulation (instead of quid pro quo negotiations) first, and then the US will consider adjustments to its bargaining position, is today being repeated with No. Korea, China, Venezuela, Iran, and elsewhere. Why Trump’s approach and policy is not simply his own but is in full agreement by Democrat party leaders and the Pentagon as well.
