Listen to my hour long Alternative Visions radio show of last friday, June 10, for my analysis of US sanctions on Russia and why most are not working as intended, their negative blowback on US & western economies’ inflation and coming recession, and long term consequences for US global economic hegemony.

SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT:
Dr. Rasmus reviews the content and consequences of US/NATO imposed sanctions on Russia since the Ukraine war was launched in February. A brief history of US use of sanctions is followed by description of sanctions since February. The categories of sanctions: goods, financial, individuals. Why oil and gas sanctions have failed. The cost of sanctions to US/ Europe, and Russia. Countries involved. Relation between sanctions and accelerating inflation globally. Impacts on US economy, Europe’s, and emerging market economies worldwide. Biden’s tepid solutions to inflation and why they’re failing. What alternatives aren’t being discussed. Consequences of sanctions for restructuring of global capitalist economy and risks for US global economic empire.
The West has lost the high speed race for industrial & manufacturing supremacy. Now at the dead end alley of Extractive Economics, directed against technologically inferior countries with natural endowment, backed by bribes for the leadership or violence for the non-complying.
Against militarily superior countries with the majority of the world’s key resources, that leaves The West with not much left than mostly useless service industries, a heavy layer of internal media propaganda and threats against foreign states delivered under the rubric of illegal sanctions.
Never before has The West had to deal with reciprocal sanctions against countries that it can’t destroy but can destroy it. As I cover here Jack . . .

Great presentation. The failure of US sanctions against Russia may play into the larger strategy of pulling it apart a slow squeeze may be more effective than an immediate shutdown and it will keep the US war machine going on longer in Ukraine. As to the history of US sanctions re Japan and Pearl Harbor Charles Beard in his two volume study prior to WWII came to the same conclusion that the US strategy was to force Japan to fire the first shot Ukraine is deja vu all over again
