I enjoyed the panel discussion, but was dismayed that the issue of job loss through artificial intelligence was raised but not the obvious solution. We have not only a climate crisis but a job crisis and the solution to the climate crisis is also the solution to the job crisis. To truly transform this country to a clean energy system will generate tens of millions of good paying jobs doing things like placing a solar panel on every structure in the country; converting the railway systems to electric railway systems; flooding the country with hydrogen fuel cell buses; dismantling oil refineries and oil pipelines; making electric cars and charging stations available to all. The list simply goes on and on. Likewise, the Covid crisis also requires job creation: bringing back on shore industries to manufacture critical medical equipment such as artificial respirators and masks so we are not dependent upon the whim of China; training more health care workers including physicians and nurses so we are not dependent on onshoring health care workers since countries abroad need their own health care workers. To deny that we have a job crisis, a climate crisis and a Covid crisis is to let the one percent beat us with the mental clubs they have provided.
