Since the publication of my latest blog post, ‘A Most Dire Warning’, a few days ago, in which I described what I believe is Trump’s most likely scenario to usurp the electoral process to stay in power, a number of radical right responders have crawled out of the woodwork to disagree to this scenario and to provoke a debate. One can’t debate, however, with people who have a completely opposite idea of the facts and I’m not about to give them another pulpit on this blog to spew their right wing rant–with this one time exception to follow. Why? Because their typical response to Trump’s emerging legal ‘coup d-etat’ is to turn on its head all the facts and efforts of Trump and to attribute them to the activities and efforts of Biden and the Democrats. This is how Ideology works–invert the facts and arguments, deny you’ve said them and argue it’s the opposition that’s doing them, conveniently delete facts, conveniently insert false facts into the arguments and positions of your opponents, reverse the cause and effect in statements and positions of your opponents, and so on. It’s all about manipulating language in order to falsify one’s position and attribute the worst of it to your opponents. Ideology is misrepresentation and falsification of reality! And the Trumpers are good at it, as is Trump himself.
That’s why I’ve bothered here to present my response to one of the rants from the right to my post, ‘A Most Dire Warning’. Here’s my response with a posting of the pile of lies, falsifications, and misrepresentations of the commentator to follow. It will be the only such exchange allowed on this blog.
MY RESPONSE & REPLY TO THE RADICAL RIGHT on Trump’s Plan to subvert the coming election:
Let me respond to a few points of your obvious right wing rant. Typical of it all is your 180 degree inversion of the facts: blame the Dems (of whom I’m no friend) for exactly what Trump is doing. Your charge Dems with ‘throwing the election in doubt’, when that’s exactly what Trump is doing. Dems creating chaos, when that’s what Trump is doing. Stealing the election, when that’s what Trump is doing (massive voter suppression, intimidation at polling stations, plans to stop the mail in vote count, etc.). Dems are liars like Communists, when Trump is verified as the greatest liar of all presidents in our history. A long list of politicians are traitors and should be ‘guillotined’, as you say. Not just executed but cut off their heads you say–just like Al Queda and Isis. Are you any different than them? Doesn’t appear so. The assassination of blacks by police is all justified in all cases, you argue. Charlottesville right wing violence was a hoax you say. (Everything is a hoax that you can’t refute factually). Biden is demented and not really the Dems candidate; Harris is and she (a black and a woman, horror!) will be president. The entire media is manipulating the election against Trump. (Even Fox news and Breitbart, BlabberBuzz, Raw Conservative Opinion, etc? Dems are fomenting unrest and domestic violence. Not Proud Boys and all the other neurotic gun toting special forces wannabees. And then you conclude with ‘Republicans weren’t hell bent on removing Obama’. (They didn’t have to, he was doing–or more accurately not doing–anything to stop them stack the federal courts and select Trump to lead them). Nor was he stepping all over the Constitution and separation of powers to push his agenda to give businesses, investors and the wealthy 1% $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, as Trump has thus far). Then you close with “Republicans can accept election results”, your biggest lie. Any fool knows that Trump, in his own words and many times, has indicated he will not accept the results”. And neither will you, I predict, should Trump lose. I suspect you’ll be among the first when Trump calls to rush down to the White House with your AR-15 to ‘defend’ it against the mass protests that will fill Washington DC later this year. To stand with your DHS swat team buddies. Your rant is out of the play book of Joseph Goebbels, whom I’m sure you never read but I have: Tell a lie long enough and get the ignorant folks to believe it. And the lie is ‘inverting’ the truth, the facts, and attribute to the Dems and Biden everything that Trump himself is saying and planning to do.
And don’t tell me ‘have a nice day’ because I know what you really mean is ‘f*** you’. And don’t bother to reply here to my response. I won’t post your rant further or take your bait to engage in a further discussion. You guys have plenty of media outlets in which to spew your trash. You don’t need mine. I don’t intend to vote for Biden but I do intend to vote against Trump and to vote to defend what’s left of our democracy in this country, which Trump, Barr and all the rest are clearly planning to destroy–starting with the legitimacy of elections.

Jack, you and your single commenter are massively afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome. How could I possibly trust your judgment in ANY area of inquiry??
There is plenty of precedent for the president to seat a Supreme Court nominee even at this late date. It’s HIS JOB to fill the vacancy! And he’s right that the democrats are already readying widespread litigation right now to throw the election result into doubt and that the Supreme Court will be likely be required to settle the election. They will need a 9th jurist. Democrat’s have tried fervently and constantly to create chaos and smear the Trump administration.
Everyone knows that the Democrats are desperate to steal the election. First of all, if you can go to Starbucks with masks, you can go vote in person. But no! There will be massive DEMOCRATIC fraud with bullshit ballots. It’s already coming to light with discarded ballots! Anyone with a brain knows that it’s Democrats that are the biggest liars and cheaters in the world—right alongside all the Communists. Bloomberg just jumped in to “bribe” convicted felons to vote by paying off their criminal debts in Florida. Are you OK with that? How desperate are these people? Answer: VERY. Democrats are rightly going to the ash-heap of history. Repubs are not much better, but Dems are much more deranged. Dementia Joe will not be elected, nor should he. He’s a total joke at this point.
It is Democrats that have tried seditiously to overturn their 2016 election defeat with lies, false accusations, phony dossiers. The entire Mueller Russia hoax was a completely obvious joke if it wasn’t such a Constitutional travesty.. All of the actors in the Russia Hoax scandal should already be in jail or executed. They are all traitors. People like Hillary, Obama, Comey, Rosenstein, Mueller, Podesta, Rice, Brennan, Clapper, Strock, Schiff and many others should already have been arrested for Treason or Sedition and/or other applicable crimes and sent to military trials. All these “victims” were so upstanding and angelic according to Left-wing media. Michael Brown was a horrible and violent thug who committed suicide by cop after robbing and assaulting a convenience store clerk just minutes before attacking officer Wilson TWICE! Ferguson shows what a total disaster that black community is, Obama’s DoJ found out that 16,000 out of 21,000 residents in Ferguson had outstanding arrest warrants! Do you really think it’s any different in any or ALL the other black shit-holes?? These people cannot exist in any kind of civilized society. And why was Zimmerman even working at Martin’s complex?? The Charlottesville “fine people” hoax is all a proven lie if you read the transcript of Trump’s actual remarks. The Russia hoax. All of the widely reported and discredited “hate crime” hoaxes of which none are true. CNN aired a program called “nation of hate” where they tried to portray white America as a bunch of haters! What a joke!
That dementia Joe Biden is the candidate is itself a hoax. If elected, Biden will step down and the least popular candidate during the Dem.primaries, Kamala, will be President. Their entire strategy is “bait and switch.” Despicable!
Biden WON’T be elected .All of the polling is as wrong as 2016, all to try and manipulate the election and to create unrest when it doesn’t happen. All of the social media and polling companies are manipulating the election right now AGAINST TRUMP. People are not as dumb as the Democrat leadership. They can see what’s happening.

Republicans weren’t hellbent on removing Obama when he was elected. Republicans can accept election results, but not Democrats!

Jack, thanks for publishing my comment. I didn’t think you would once I saw comment moderation, so I appreciate it. Obviously, from my perspective, it is you that hold a total inversion of the facts. But this is entirely typical of our times of extreme and widespread media propaganda.
I’m not even radical right. I’m normal right. I’m more along the lines of your pal Democrat James Howard Kunstler. Everything he has been writing in recent months, I completely and utterly agree with. Him and I are in complete and total agreement. He’s laid out why he’s voting for Trump. And he’s been a committed NY Democrat forever! He had TDS, but I can see that he’s cured.
I hope some of your readers respond, but we surround ourselves with like opinions, so I don’t expect much support. That said, you usually stay with economic commentary which I agree with, by the way.
I’ve enjoyed reading your economic commentary. It’s very good. I do think that you should stick to economics and not politics. Again, from my perspective, your TDS undermines your credibility. The fact that you think I’m some kind of monster shows me how “off” your opinions are. It’s really, really crazy. No, and I don’t wish you a “F— you.”
I hold a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering and an MBA in Economics. I worked 30 years on large capital projects worldwide in the oil and gas business. I’ve worked on 6 continents including Africa. Like I said, that you think I’m a monster shows me who the real monsters are.
Where you and I are in agreement is our disgust with the policies of the Democrats since Clinton that have contributed to the crisis and collapse of America’s economy and social structure. Where we differ is that you believe Trump’s policies are the solution. No. They are part of the same evolution of policies that have been bringing so much hardship to anyone that is not among the wealthiest 5% or so of households. Trump is just the further escalation of policies that began with Reagan, intensified and developed further with Clinton, accelerated with GW Bush, continued with Obama, and now are deepening and accelerating with Trump. You should think of Trump as just the flip side of the coin of Obama.
What has Trump given us: $4.5 trillion in tax cuts for his capitalist buddies (especially offshore corporations). $3.4 trillion in stock buybacks and dividend payouts to investors in just Trump’s first three years in office. Low pay service jobs for the rest of us, often needing two or more to survive. A collapsing retirement system. Almost total environmental deregulation, as climate warming intensifies. (I live in California and am watching my state burn away. Don’t tell me there’s no climate warming. And don’t peddle Trump’s bullshit excuse of forest mismanagement because most of the burning forests are federal). Tens of millions more are without health insurance (but ACA was a bust, I agree, as I warned years ago. A $900 billion a year boondoggle for the health insurance companies). Then there’s Trump’s incredible fuck up of managing the covid crisis (and it is a crisis and not a deep state conspiracy. Do you really think that the entire globe is advocating masks for nothing? Are they all part of the deep state ‘conspiracy’? And why is it that China, So. Korea and other countries now have it under control but the USA is the worst off? How can you ignore these facts? I know you can and do).
Trump has caused me personally thousands of dollars more in federal taxes, while he rewarded his friends (and himself) with billions and trillions of dollars of tax cuts. He said it would create jobs (they all say tax cuts create jobs but they don’t). Investment has steadily declined for decades in the US while $15T in tax cuts, mostly for investors and businesses, have been passed. Trump is an ignorant fool only concerned with himself and his re-election. He’s the president of just the red states. He’s a clever sociopath, however (as most are), with the backing of rich fucks like the Adelsons, Mercers and others.
We’ve gone from president “Mr. Jello” (Obama. Sways left then sways right but never really moves anywhere) to president “Mr. Screw You” I’m going to get re-elected no matter how much I have to destroy of America economically and politically.
The Trumpublican party (there is no Republican party any more) and the Timidcrats are just two wings of the Corporate Party of America. For 40 years they’ve together played this shell game on us: The Republicans wreck the economy in the process of enriching their 1% benefactors and campaign contributors; the Democrats come in, promising to end the economic devastation but dabble in a solution and in the process make the same 1% even richer! They’re both run by the rich. Trump’s ‘take no prisoners’ capitalists vs. Democrats’ ‘guilty we’re screwing you’ capitalists.

For those incapable of critical and independent thinking—and there’s millions in this country—there’s the quick explanation conspiracy theory of the day.
I can excuse people for being ignorant—defined as just not having access to the facts. And there’s a lot of obfuscation of facts going on. Ignorance may be excusable. But there are tens of millions today (the post-Reagan generations) that are just plain stupid—defined as incapable of rational thinking. So the clever ones (politicians) fill their heads with Fox News and Breitbart bullshit and do their thinking for them. And they let them because they don’t even know it’s happening. But that’s what happens when you’re just plain stupid and can’t think for yourself.
Here’s the fundamental fact of what’s going on: In order for the filthy super-rich to keep their wealth and continue to grow it even more, the economic policies get more and more distributive—from the rest of us to them; and the political system gets less and less democratic so that they can continue to ensure they control the politicians and institutions they need to keep the redistribution game going. Meaning, less democratic.
The difference between us is I see this two sided shell game, but you think one side is different from the other and will rescue you in the end. No, Trump is just part of the same game.
I think you’re mistaken as to the origin of our current problems. It really dates back to Nixon’s abandonment of the Bretton Accord that began our path to ruin.
Nixon ended this monetary arrangement in 1971–which ended gold-backed money. It was done at that time to enable the government to run deficits to fund the Viet Nam war without raising taxes to pay for it. As an immediate result, the US dollar plunged in value and our national debt and inflation began to skyrocket. A falling dollar soon caused the oil exporting countries to sharply raise oil prices in 1974 igniting a budgetary and inflationary spiral as the US tried to maintain our GDP levels.
Then came decades of huge, unsustainable global imbalances in trade and debt, inflation, falling living standards, inequality, monetary disorder especially since year 2000, instability, the rise of China, the Petro-dollar, endless wars, the massive military-industrial complex, a leviathan surveillance state, mega corporate monopolies, massive US government growth, government malfeasance and corruption, national de-industrialization, wealth inequality, the Eurodollar rise and fall, widespread US intervention and manipulation in nearly every global nation — continuing to the present day. All fueled by easy (unsound) money and out-of-control spending.
None of this could have happened with sound money discipline. It was always going to end in a supernova of debt and ultimately economic/financial failure. Sound money enthusiasts will eventually be vindicated.
Trump is just the latest bag-holder in our march to ruin. Obama added $10 Trillion in debt. I always knew that the next administration was going to have to add exponentially more to “move the needle” as the efficacy (or marginal utility) of new debt keeps declining here and elsewhere..And that’s what we’re seeing. Yeah, the Trump tax cuts were a disaster and done with the ONGOING effort avoid the inevitable financial black hole. Either way, there’s no fix now.
So, yeah, you’re pissed off with me, but the real issue is how to actually survive the unwinding of decades of massive imbalances caused by unsound money and avoid starvation when finance fails and world-wide supply chains fail. It’s literally a life and death issue for billions of people worldwide. It’s probably already started with this Covid shock. .
So, don’t blame Reagan, blame Nixon. Sadly, we’re going to have to reap what was sown. Don’t blame Trump, blame the fools at the Federal Reserve. They have no idea of what they’re doing. It’s typical of the entire profession of economics that seems to be unable to deal with finance and debt dynamics. They’ve missed the rise and now fall of the Eurodollar boom and bust especially notable in 2008/2009. They still don’t get it. It’s the “Eurodollar derivative complex” mostly off balance sheets of European banks that is the real money supply to the world. It’s nearly pure leverage with basically no dollars backing it. It’s extremely unstable as it’s a huge edifice all based on the balance sheet capacity of European banks—which are not in good shape. I’ve written a lot about that on my blog. Most economists don’t have a clue.
I agree re Bretton Woods so far as monetary problems and the Fed are concerned. It was a major theme of my 2017 book, ‘Centrla Bankers at the End of Their Ropes’. But the Fed under Reagan continued the problem when Reagan-Baker sacked Volcker and put in Greenspan. The problem being massive liquidity injections constantly that enabled the financialization in US and globally that has led to financial instability in the capitalist system and frequent bubbles and crises. It’s also meant shifting of money capital investments into financial assets and away from real investment that creates good jobs and wage in comes, while accelerating portfolion incomes and income inequality.

The Federal Reserve only plays one note: re-inflate financial markets!! Re-inflate any and all the previous bubbles!— which has the effect of transferring $Trillions to the Primary Dealer banks who can “leak” some of that money into financial markets, thereby benefiting the wealthy who own securities.
Thanks to the repeal of Glass Steagall, the big TBTF banks are now just giant hedge funds playing in the markets with “free money” from the Fed .Goldman Sachs is literally a hedge fund to this day. Corruption! The bank’s gains are called profits and their inevitable losses are socialized! What a great deal for the banksters! So add the repeal of Glass Steagall to the litany of factors leading ultimately leading to financial disaster: the repeal of Glass Steagall and promises of future bailouts! Good God! Moral hazards everywhere! It’s a real travesty that not one politician has specifically called out the Federal Reserve as the main source of wealth inequality. Not even Bernie Sanders. I wish we had more sophisticated people in DC.
Don’t underplay my comment about the “Eurodollar complex” as being the real money supply to the world. Every Fed chair, from Greenspan on, has failed to recognize that huge development and shift. Modern economists are typically missing it too. If you don’t know how these financial markets work, then you don’t understand what and where “money” is anymore. When the Fed gave up reporting M3, which tried to capture broad money in Europe, it was a sign that they just put their heads in the sand. It stayed that way ever since.
So the world of economists just keep focused on the largely irrelevant Fed funds rate and US monetary aggregates and continue to miss the BIG picture. It’s why every Fed chairman from Greenspan on have been constantly confounded and flummoxed that their theories no longer work. Remember Greenspan’s conundrum? I do. These people are stubborn and stuffy.
Jeff Snyder at Alhambra Partners has really opened my eyes regarding the importance of the “Eurodollar market complex.” I’ve written a lot about it myself.
So, you’re beginning to see that we have a lot of common ground. You’ll be surprised how much we agree!! LOL.
